Zachary Quinto Says He "Can't Wait To Go Back" To Filming Star Trek

With the flurry of Star Trek XII production start date rumors (now it looks like later than January 2011), Zachary Quinto confesses that he "Can't Wait To Get Back" to work on our favorite franchise. In an interview with MTV News, Quinto talked about the possibility of January 2011 start date " I know there are sort of erroneous reports that we're going back in January — not true, as far as I know."

Zachary Quinto Clarify's His "Steeping Away For 2 Years" Statement

Yesterday we reported that Zachary Quinto made it know that he is stepping away from all things Trek for a few years.  Turns out today that ZQ wants to set the record straight.  From his own personal blog Zach makes it clear that he will be reprising his role as our favorite Vulcan (well, one of our favorite Vulcans) in the next Star Trek movie.  At the end of his statement he even throws in a reference to Leonard Nimoy's "I am not Spock / I am Spock" books.  Check it out below.

Don't expect to see Zachary Quinto at any conventions any time soon.  He recently was quoted as saying that he's “...stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years — no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while,".  This of course is probably not counting his recurring role as Spock in Star Trek XII (set for release June 29, 2012)

New Spock's Run-in With The Fuzz

Zachary Quinto had a run-in with LA's Finest this last week while filming a video for Funny or Die at the L.A. bakery Kiss My Bundt.  As reported by E-online, New Spock played a pistol-wielding robber that seemed a bit too real for some of the Shop's patrons.

"When someone saw Zach hold up a real gun and scream, 'This is a g-----n hold up!' they called the police," Bundt owner Chrysta Wilson tells us.

As reported by Newsarama, Zachary Quinto is stepping into the comics arena.  Zachary and his production company Before the Door Pictures, are developing comic books in a partnership with Archaia Comics. The details were releasesd Saturday at Comic-Con during the Achaia panel.  Achaia is also partnering with Roddenberry Productions to release their new comic 'Days Missing'.

In a recent interview Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto discuss Gene Roddenberry's vision for human equality and why Star Trek has stayed viable for so long.

Quinto, who plays Spock, said: “I think Gene Roddenberry was a visionary in a lot of ways, and at a time in American history where there was a lot of civial, socio-political and racial unrest, he created a series which really explored themes which people are a little reticent to talk about, in an allegorical way which was subversive at times, and provocative.
