September 11th
Roddenberry Entertainment's "White Room: 02B3" wins Innovative Filmmaking Award At Burbank International Film Festival

We first heard of the groundbreaking Roddenberry Entertainment film project White Room: 02B3 back at Vegas Khhaaan! 2011 and have been intrigued since. After its international premiere in London earlier this year, White Room has made the rounds landing at San Diego Comic-Con in July and recently appearing at the Burbank International Film Festival. Not only did the film wow audiences with its 360-degree HD panoramic video, it also took home the festival's President’s Award for Innovation in Filmmaking.

Lou Ferrigno / Michael Dorn Project "Liberator" To Show At Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo September 15th & 16th

You kids remember the awesome superhero short film "Liberator" that we talked about last year, right? Well, it's finished and getting to play at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo next weekend (September 15th & 16th). Not only will it be shown twice at the con, but it will also open for Stan Lee's documentary With Great Power the 15th. Both screenings will be followed by panels featuring Lou Ferrigno and other cast and crew.

Space, The Final Frontier... 46 Years Of Star Trek

46 years ago today, Star Trek launched its 5 year mission. Unfortunately it only lasted 3 in its original form, but Trek as we now know it consists of over 700 hours of television and movies. It seems that this year Star Trek is getting more press than usual on its anniversary. Google, Oreo, and websites the world over are celebrating the launch of Trek. Some even proclaiming today as Star Trek day. Of course, we're not complaining.

Google Celebrates The 46th Anniversary Of Star Trek With A Special Doodle

Okay, so maybe we're biased, but this has got to be the best doodle that Google has released. If you haven't visited google.com, you definitely should. There's a special doodle that celebrates the 46th anniversary of Star Trek, launching on the small screen, complete with console beeps, transporter effects, alien planets, a red shirt, and a certain alien species that I won't reveal. Like other doodles, you have to click through a series of events to eventually launch the custom search for Star Trek.

Life After Trek Podcast Episode 20 Featuring Michael DeMeritt

We’re pleased to announce episode 20 of our “Life After Trek” podcast, featuring Michael DeMeritt. Many of you know Michael from his time on the full run of both Star Trek: Voyager & Star Trek: Enterprise as First / Second Assistant Director. He also worked, most recently, on hit shows like ABC Family's Make It or Break It, Showtime's Californication, NBC's Las Vegas, and many others. We met him at BayouCon 2012 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and got the chance to experience his inside Star Trek panels featuring many never-before-seen photos & stories. We knew, then and there, that he would be an excellent guest on "Life After Trek".

Walter Koenig Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star This Monday, Sept 10, 2012

If you’re anywhere near Southern California and you don’t have plans for this coming weekend, you’re in luck. There’s a once in a lifetime event in Hollywood that you won’t want to miss! Star Trek’s Walter Koenig is being honored at the induction ceremony, at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for his very own star . Not only that, but to add icing to the proverbial cake, there’s an entire weekend convention dedicated to the event!

Go-Go, Joan of Arc, & Star Trek IV Communicaitons Officer Jane Wiedlin On The SciFi Diner

First of all, how cool is that? Our friends Scott & Miles from The SciFi Diner Podcast just released another interview from their time at Shore Leave 34. This time, they sit down with Jane Wiedlin from The Go-Gos. Jane has also worked on several feature films including Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and our beloved Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

Nichelle Nichols & LeVar Burton Set To Guest At The 100 Year Starship 2012 Public Symposium Next Month

What's a 100 Year Starship you ask? Well, it's an initiative to push human kind toward interstellar travel lead by retired NASA Astronaut / M.D. / Star Trek guest star Mae Jemison. According to the official initiative mission statement: 100 Year Starship will pursue national and global initiatives, and galvanize public and private leadership and grassroots support, to assure that human travel beyond our solar system and to another star can be a reality within the next century. 100 Year Starship will unreservedly dedicate itself to identifying and pushing the radical leaps in knowledge and technology needed to achieve interstellar flight while pioneering and transforming breakthrough applications to enhance the quality of life on earth. We will actively include the broadest swath of people in understanding, shaping, and implementing our mission.

Star Trek: The Exhibition Now In Vancouver Canada Until Sept 3rd

If you’re anywhere near Vancouver you still have time to go see Star Trek: The Exhibition at the Pacific Nation Exhibition. It continues its run through September 3rd and has tons of goodies to see.
The exhibit makes it first-ever Canadian stop at the Pacific National Exhibition, which continues until Sept. 3. There are 46 years of Star Trek history on display, including sets from the series, filming models, props, costumes and more from all five series and 11 feature films.CONTINUE READING >>
